Boxing
The Foundation
Most of our hand techniques are punches and movements found in boxing. This style of fighting is great for teaching spacing, reflexes and coordination. When we fight we train from a contemporary boxing stance.
Tae-Kwon-Do
Nice Kicks
Our kicks come from ITF Tae-Kwon-Do. While we do cover a few basic Muy Thai techniques such as shin kicks and knees, we mostly focus on round kicks, front kicks, side kicks and the variations of those techniques.
Self Defense
Comprehend, Drill, Repeat
Self defense is not taught like a magic button to win a fight. We teach our students that any need for self defense in itself is a fight. There is no one size fits all for any situation but we drill movements that have the highest likelihood of success in the given situation.
Fitness
Hard work pays off
Fitness is a big focus at Karate RX. Every two months we rotate to a different focus of strength to keep things fresh for our students and to keep our bodies improving in different ways. We track all of our students growth with the following movements:
Push Ups
1 Mile Run Time
Sit Ups
Squats
Box Jumps
Sparring
Anti Fragility Training
After students earn their Yellow Belt they begin sparring with protective gear on. We train students on how to fight with drills and closely monitor when they fight to insure everyone is as safe as possible.
